Each year, the Iowa Turfgrass Institute and its allied associations host a golf tournament, known as the Extension Fundraiser, to raise funds for Iowa State University's Turfgrass Extension Specialist, who travels throughout the state of Iowa to visit with turfgrass professionals and help them with their challenges and diagnoses.  The funds raised from this event cover the fees associated with these site visits and services for members of the allied associations.

Since the event's inception in 2005, it has contributed over $75,000 to ISU Extension.  In recent years, the Iowa Golf Association Foundation has become a large supporter of this event and cause, donating more than $24,000 in the past seven years combined.
